The Ronceverte River Festival

River Festival

We're having the Festival! This year's the Festival will be a 2 day event, starting with a parade on June 11th. The festival features attractions, vendors, live performances, and great fair food! The main event is The Great Rubber Ducky Race which happens on Saturday at 4 PM. A single ticket can win you one of many prizes awarded or the Grand Prize of $5,000. The more tickets you buy means more chances you have to win! Events, games, live music and contests fill the weekend and the festival culminates with a Fireworks Display on Saturday night.

The River Festival is a community event, and for that we need community involvement. The more you can do, the better it can be. Help us make this year the best Festival ever.

All entries will be judged in one of 14 categories. The winner of each will receive a trophy. The Festival Committee Favorite will be awarded to the entry that best expresses our theme for this year: Back In The Sun In 2021. We are pleased and proud to announce the Grand Parade will be led by WVU’s very own Mountaineer Colson Glover, and the judges will be WV Governor Jim Justice, the First Lady of WV, Cathy Justice, and WV Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
Sensory Friendly Saturday
Sometimes all the noise and excitement of an event like the River Festival can be overwhelming, especially for many of our special needs friends and family members. This year we are inviting everyone who would prefer a little less hectic time to avoid the crowd and join us at 10AM on Saturday for some low intensity entertainment and activities. This event is new to us, and if you have suggestions, you may contact us on our Facebook page.
Storytime with Cherie
Children of all ages are invited to join in with interactive storytime adventures. Yes, you parents are welcome to join in. 3 books will be read and the audience will be encouraged to bring props and participate. If you'd like to get a preview or want to get familiar with the story beforehand, the following books will be read:
Fancy Nancy: Saturday Night Sleepover (Youtube link here) Bring a bag or backpack with a comfy blanket and your favorite stuffed animal. You can also bring earmuffs and a family portrait!
Duck Sock Hop (Youtube link here) Socks will be provided!
Not Your Typical Dragon (Youtube link here) This one has so many possibilities. We will provide some props for audience participation, but at this time the only thing I can promise is bubbles. Feel free to bring other items that go with the story. PLEASE DO NOT BRING FIRE OF ANY SORT!
